The Urban League of Middle Tennessee, where we are empowering people and changing lives.
The mission of the Urban League of Middle Tennessee is to enable African Americans, other minorities and disenfranchised groups to secure economic self-reliance, power, parity, and civil rights. Our Urban League movement empowers communities and changes lives.
Our efforts are focused in the following areas: Economic empowerment - which includes workforce development, jobs, housing, and entrepreneurship; Youth & Education services focused on ensuring academic competence while preparing our young people for life, leadership and success within a global economy; Health & Quality of Life for all and particularly for the least of our citizens; Civic Engagement and empowering communities through participation in the political process; and Civil Rights and Racial Justice.
The Urban League of Middle Tennessee (ULMT), which celebrates its long-standing efforts to empower communities and change lives in the population that is at the core of our mission invites you to our upcoming 2011 Equal Opportunity Day Luncheon. This year’s event, which will take place on Tuesday, February 1st at the Downtown Hilton, will feature Mayor Karl Dean as the keynote speaker. We are delighlighted to have Dr. T.B. and Mrs. Yvette Boyd serving as the co-chairs of this year’s luncheon and to be honoring Sam Howard, our current Board Chairman, with the ULMT’s Lifetime Member Award, which is given to a member of the community who exemplifies the tenets and mission of the ULMT. Table sponsorships begin at $2,000. Individual seats, at $200. It is an incredible networking opportunity and we need your help and participation to make this year’s event a success.
